what is Surface Buoy?

Surface Buoy is a type of intelligent marine device deployed on the sea surface for long-term environmental monitoring and data collection. (See figure)
It is widely used in marine observation, air-sea exchange research, port monitoring, offshore engineering, ecological protection, and scientific research experiments. Based on years of experience in marine monitoring, our company has independently developed a new generation of Surface Buoy products, integrating the core advantages of drift buoys to make them superior in accuracy, stability, and application flexibility.
Our Surface Buoy uses a nine-axis MEMS-IMU inertial measurement unit and advanced ocean dynamics algorithms to perform high-precision analysis of sea surface displacement, velocity, acceleration, and wave elements. This algorithm effectively eliminates accumulated errors in acceleration and velocity integration processes and eliminates instabilities in the low-frequency band (around 0.04 Hz), making wave height, period, direction, and energy spectrum data more accurate and reliable. This advantage stems from our in-depth research in drift buoy inertial navigation technology, enabling the Surface Buoy to maintain accurate data output even in complex sea conditions and swell-dominated environments.
Furthermore, the buoy adopts a modular and lightweight design, making it small in size and light in weight, facilitating rapid deployment and recovery. The product features ultra-low power consumption (typical operating current < 50 mA) and supports battery power, solar power, and intelligent sleep mode, enabling long-term unattended operation. It offers flexible communication methods, including BeiDou short message service, 4G/5G, LoRa, and UHF, allowing for selection based on communication conditions in different sea areas to achieve real-time or scheduled data transmission.
In terms of durability, the Surface Buoy is constructed from corrosion-resistant, UV-resistant, and impact-resistant marine-grade materials, withstanding prolonged exposure to sunlight, salt spray, and ocean currents. It also features a high-strength sealed structure to ensure reliable operation even in rough seas.
Due to its lightweight, high-precision, and highly responsive characteristics, the Surface Buoy is ideal for rapid monitoring, regional deployment, scientific research experiments, and the construction of temporary monitoring points. Its scalability is high, allowing it to be equipped with various sensors for temperature, salinity, current velocity, meteorology, and water quality, enabling the construction of a comprehensive multi-element observation system.
With its stable data performance, flexible system architecture, and excellent environmental adaptability, our Surface Buoy provides an efficient, reliable, and cost-effective solution for ocean observation.
