Features of Weather Buoy




The buoy's design is centered around stability, enabling rapid recovery of moment support during storms. It features a narrow swing angle, strong wind resistance, and a minimal drag coefficient.
High-quality wind and meteorological sensors enhance data reliability, while also incorporating safety mechanisms to ensure the sensors can withstand strong winds and waves for extended periods. The triangularly distributed support structure enhances overall stability, effectively resisting damage from extreme weather conditions such as typhoons.
The buoy measures a variety of meteorological parameters, including wind speed, direction, temperature, air pressure, humidity, rainfall intensity, and visibility; it also monitors hydrological parameters such as waves (including wave direction) and water temperature. The high-precision collection of this data facilitates analysis of air-sea exchange processes and environmental changes.
All data is transmitted in real-world form, with each record approximately 1KB. Multiple communication methods are supported, including UHF, GSM, GPRS, CDMA, and satellite communications, allowing direct transmission to mobile phones, greatly enhancing the buoy's management convenience.
The buoy is equipped with a powerful solar charging system, allowing a single charge on a sunny day to meet a week's worth of electricity needs. A sufficient battery pack provides continuous power for up to a month, even on cloudy days. The buoyancy chamber is filled with non-absorbent foam, ensuring the buoy remains afloat even in the event of an accident.

What ocean weather conditions do buoys measure
Drifting and moored buoys — Interoperable or not — Can capture a range of marine weather conditions. Different configurations allow buoys to expand their data capture.
All drifting buoys measure sea surface temperature (SST) and position, which are used to calculate ocean current velocity. SST sensors are typically located on the bottom of the buoy to capture water surface temperature. Moored buoys are typically deployed at fixed locations near the coastline and, depending on their configuration, can measure wave height and period, air pressure, air and sea surface temperature, wind speed and direction, and even wave propagation direction. Smart moorings can further monitor subgravity waves, non-tidal residuals, tidal fluctuations, and water levels. Moorings used for aquaculture can also be equipped with sensors to measure parameters such as water quality, water column stratification, groundwater characteristics, and ocean currents, providing a scientific basis for aquaculture management.
