Navigation Buoy

Navigation buoys are widely used in a variety of waters, including the sea, ports, river channels, etc. Navigation buoys are important navigational AIDS for sea and river navigation, used to identify channels, dangerous areas, shoals or other key locations to help ships navigate safely and efficiently. Its design and use follow international uniform standards (such as the IALA buoy system) to ensure the consistency of navigation signs in global waters. This standard is divided into two zones A and B. Zone A is mainly for countries in Europe, Asia and Africa. Zone A is a red buoy on the right side when entering the port. Zone B is mainly the United States, Japan and South Korea. Zone B is the green buoy on the right side when entering the port. The floating material of the navigation buoy is divided into three kinds:

1. Steel buoy: strong collision resistance, suitable for high traffic volume sea area.

2. Polymer polyethylene (PE) buoy/polyurea buoy: lightweight, corrosion resistant, suitable for shallow water or temporary deployment.

3. Glass fiber Reinforced plastic (FRP) buoy: both strength and weather resistance, widely used in deep sea areas.

Some navigation buoys also have AIS (Automatic Identification System) integrated AIS transmitter to send position and property information to the ship. The navigation buoy itself is also equipped with anchor chain + concrete sink or spiral anchor, which can ensure the stable position of the buoy.
